STORM AND RAPE IN SINNERS BAY!

A woman, who will remain unidentified, was raped and assaulted in Sinners Bay a few days ago. It came to the papers attention when the woman, obviously traumatized, came to the Daily Sinners office after receiving no response from a police report she had filed with the SBPD.

The woman told the DS reporter she had an apartment in the down town area, recently rented, and was moving in when a man came to the door about 6PM. He stated he was the building inspector, and wanted to check her door to see if it was installed properly, as he was already in the area. This gained him entry into the apartment where he then raped and assaulted her. The paper mentions his approach, so as to forewarn others of this ruse.
The paper then contacted a Deputy for the woman, and accompanied her and Deputy Click to the scene. It is assumed the mater is now under full police investigation.

A violent, but small area wise, storm, or tornado, came through SB earlier, causing considerable damage where it passed!

When the Daily Sinner reporter came upon the scene, an unidentified woman was there, and local resident Mr. Putzo, who was there trying to see how to remove a large wooden timber that had been pushed through a window.

According to Mr. Putzo -
"after the storm that had caused very little damage elsewhere in the bay, the city engineers came to lochness Ilse.
The previous tenants had left the municipal building in a shocking state of repair, and the tornado had wrecked havoc.
The bridge lay in pieces floating on the water a nuisance to shipping and wildlife.
Structural elements had cascaded all over, one piece of supporting structure, inexplicably, coming to rest, through the window of no. 2 Sinners Bay. The engineers could find no trace of the previous owners, except for a few unpaid bills, from a Mrs Putzo. Although the address was illegible, they passed the problem to the municipal legal department and debt collectors." The next photo is by Mr. Putzo.

Also, the same day, a bomb or terrorist bomb threat was reported at the hospital, but no more information is available at this time.

News : Public Service Law Goes Horribly Wrong!

Not by Shaggy Littleboots (as she too fears reprisals)

From information so far found by the Daily Sinner, it appears the new Public Service Law, although enacted in good faith for the citizens of Sinner's Bay, is being abused and used for the purpose of giving those in power an excuse to satisfy their own sick desires and pleasures!

So far two women have come forward, with horrific tales of what they experienced. The method seems the same for both of them - 1st drugs were planted on them, then the authorities would find the drugs, and use that as their reason to invoke the new PSL! Both women , one of whom is a cocktail waitress at a popular local bar, and the other just recently hired at the Dead End Memorial Hospital, wish to remain anonymous, fearing retribution. They were both stripped completely naked, and thoroughly abused, to the point they wished not to go into detail. The one woman said she understood even much worse had happened to a woman taken to the police station, involving some type of torture machine, but again the women were afraid to go into details, least they be identified. And although not naming him directly, again out of fear of reprisals, it was quite apparent that at least one of the officials involved was officer Gunner Ireman.

In what appears to be a related story, it was also learned by the Daily Sinner that the old Bone Mansion may be soon used for a bordello, or as the one woman stated "A whorehouse" and indicated if her fears came true, it would be used for forced prostitution at that! More on this story as more developes. As stated, all involved are naturally reluctant to speak out of fear. We wish to remind all Sinner readers again, that there is a drop-off box at the paper's office, if anyone wishes to secretly notify the paper of anything newsworthy.

News: Dominatrix Slaver Captures DDD

by Shaggy Littleboots

The Distressed Damsels Dormitory, or DDD as it is affectionately known locally, has been a long standing institution in Sinner's Bay dedicated to aiding and assisting young women in need of short term housing. Over the years, it has helped many girls get back on their feet during periods of their lives when times were especially tough.

Those days are likely over, thanks to the arrival of the Dragon Lady.

Miss Simone Yheng, or Mistress Simone to those who value their skins, has taken over as the house mother of the DDD, and that can only mean bad news for the poor girls forced to turn there for help. Yheng's "social clubs" in Beaverly Hills and DeadEnd have allegedly been linked to everything from forced prostitution to human trafficking, with the victims of these crimes being the sort of young women that typically turn to the DDD for assistance. One can only assume that Miss Yheng, an admitted BDSM Dominatrix, intends on subjugating the residents of the DDD and extending her criminal empire here in Sinner's Bay.

While those in charge waste our time and tax dollars by passing the Public Service Law in response to an increase in petty crimes, nothing is done to protect the female population of the Bay from the real dangers lurking on our streets. The Distressed Damsels Dormitory represented the one safe place for downtrodden girls to find refuge, and now a dangerous predator has been allowed to waltz into town and take control of it. It is only a matter of time before the number of cases of missing girls reported in Sinner's Bay rivals that of Beaverly Hills and DeadEnd.

News: Crime Syndicate meets in Sinners Bay

by Shaggy Littleboots

The secretive and elusive Summer's Organized Crime Family's top personal were spotted in Sinners Bay this afternoon, holding an apparent meeting. They were spotted while dining in the la Vita Bella resturant. Members of this crime syndicate are seldom seen in Sinners Bay, and even rarer, seeing the four top brass together anywhere. This reporter was unable to get close enough to catch any conversation, but did attempt to without being obvious, but she was able to obtain some pictures. They appeared very cautious when not alone.

The four present were identified from news archives photos by this reporter as Mob Bridger, the family's top "musscle" and enforcer: KC Calamari, often thought of as the family bosses right hand, and porported assassin. Rumors have it she is the most dangerous, and deadly, member of the Criminal Group. Also in attendance was Tawdri Trollop, number 2 in the organization, of whom little is heard since her release on parole recently, and the sister of Miss Randi Summers, the family boss. Finding Miss Summers out and about is apparently very rare indeed.

Why the family's top leaders were in Sinners Bay is not known at this time. Research in both news articles and with the local PD show no "confirmed" activity in the area, although rumors have existed. They are not suspected in the recent asault/rape, as there does not appear to be a profit motive behind the actions.

It is speculated that it is possible the family has simply chosen Sinners as a nice place to meet, away from their usual areas where they are well know, where they can just meet and relax. Locl business people interviewed by this reporter stated that if they are spending money in the local resturants and bars, they are as welcome as anyone with cash.

News : New Office for Daily Sins

The Daily Sins HQ, having lost it's former headquarters in the town centre owing to budget cuts - is now located in the suburbs a short walk out of the main strip and by the Gun Club.

When asked for comment, the editor in chief - Miss Dita Actor, had this to say

"It is good for the paper to have a presence in the bay once more though it once again also makes us a target for hate crimes, public nuisance, and other such troubles as we have had in the past.

The decision to move the office will not affect our ability to cover news that happens in the heart of the bay. On the contrary we believe that the more rural inaccessibility of our office will allow people the anonymity they might need to pop in and submit their various tips on what goes on in the bay."

Billionaire's Death in Sinners Bay - Hoax?

(Pic : a recent portrait comissioned by Mr Mortimer Waddington)

Uncle Mort reputed to have died in Sinners Bay on all hallow's eve was recently seen harassing a young bar patron at the Dogs Bollocks according to several eye witness accounts.

Mortimer Waddington, was a reputed eccentric who bought the supposedly haunted house on Sinners Peak - convinced that it was a portal to an evil dimension. A black sealed envelope proclaiming his death and a reading of Mr Waddington's will went out to many residents all claiming to have been close to the man - whose death may very well have been exaggerated.

Neither Mr Waddington nor his Lawyers were available for comment on this matter.

News: Violent Sex Crime Rocks the Bay

A woman was attacked and raped over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend here in the Bay.

The woman, who requested her identity not be revealed, was abducted and held prisoner in the old mill on the road leading out of town. She was tortured, raped, and left in her bondage when rescuers discovered her.

The accompanying photograph was submitted anonymously, presumably by the woman's attacker(s). The identity of the assailant(s) is unknown, but the fact that they sent pictures of their crime to the Daily Sinner suggests a level of depravity that borders on the inhumane

If anyone has any clues that might lead to the identification of the attacker(s), please contact the Daily Sinner.

News: The Bay's Oldest Resident Dies

Winston Pistole, owner of the Smoking Hole Gun Club and Sinner's Bay's oldest resident, died of natural causes early this morning. He was 105.

Though Pistole lived his entire life in Sinner's Bay, few people knew him well. To most residents, he was considered odd and eccentric. "The man always carried a gun, day and night. They say he slept with a gun in his bed too. And he had no social skills. You'd say hello to him on those rare occasions when he'd leave that old club of his, and he wouldn't even answer you. All he'd do is act all nervous and mumble something about the ferryman returning," an anonymous source told the Sinner.

The Smoking Hole Gun Club holds a place of distinction in Sinner's Bay's short but tragic history. Pistole had it built in 1945, and for the decade and a half it was the hub of social activity in the Bay. That all changed in December of 1960 when a wanderer named Carlton Hoyte shot and killed three patrons before kidnapping Betty Lou Granger, the hostess. Police were unable to locate the pair for over a week before discovering them hiding in the barn adjacent to the Smoking Hole. Hoyte had tortured and raped Granger repeatedly before hanging himself. Granger was discovered alive but never recovered from the trauma and died shortly thereafter.

The incident forever tarnished the reputation of the Smoking Hole, and Pistole let it fall into disrepair, though he never officially closed it's doors. "That place is full of bad spirits," said another resident who also wished to remain anonymous. "I think it's haunted. The club is creepy...you couldn't pay me to go near that barn."

Pistole had no successors. It is speculated that the Smoking Hole Gun Club and adjacent lands will become property of the state.

News: New Ownership at Daily Sinner

Sinner's Bay renowned and respected news publication, the Daily Sinner, find itself under new ownership this week after declining sales and decreasing subscription renewals threatened to drive the local institution out of business. Tough economic times and a cultural shift away from paper publications to electronic media alternatives caused the Sinner to post heavy losses over the past three quarters. The paper stood on the brink of extinction.

But that has all changed thanks to Dante Haustraun stepping forward and purchasing majority ownership of the newspaper. "The Sinner is too important to this great community for it not to continue on. The people of the Bay depend on the Sinner to keep them informed of the news that affects their lives. I won't allow it to fail," he said.

Haustraun, most recently the Director of the now-dormant Collaborative Local Union of Businesses (C.L.U.B.), brings his many years of business experience and leadership to the flagging Sinner. The previous majority owner, Dita Actor, remains on the board of directors and will continue to work for the paper as its leading journalist.

The Daily Sinner is currently hiring. Please contact Dante Haustraun directly for more information.

News : Local Resident Shot by Sniper

On the evening of Thursday, September 9...at approximately 9:43 pm, a Bay area resident by the name of Ashaki Hunt, was struck by a bullet in the upper thigh area of her right leg.
According to Police Chief Jebediah Albatros "... a single shell casing was found....which was later identified as a .308 caliber. " This is believed to have be a sniper bullet.
He credits the Bay area community with its co-operation in the receipt of several promising leads with regards to the incident and says of the Sinners Bay Police department " ...as your sworn law enforcement officials, are and will do everything in our scope of service to solve this terrible atrocity!"
The chief would also like to caution against believingrumours about a Sinners Bay Sniper - stating that there is no evidence to support such a claim.

News : McCaw - A Jailbird?

Photo : Rapist, Mr Stubby McCaw

Stubby McCaw, CEO of Sinners Estate Holdings and one of the most influential men in the city, has been jailed pending trial on charges of rape and assault.
McCaw is said to be falsely accused according to his fiancé, Miss Summer Grossberg who also said
"- if Mr. McCaw really did it, then he deserves what he gets. If he didn't, then there will be hell to pay, one way or another."

Miss Grossberg indicated that McCaw was being negligently treated in prison citing starvation as a prime example. According to Miss Grossberg,
"… they hadn't fed him for nearly two days"

The charges are being brought against McCaw by MarySue Delvalle who happens to be involved in the running of The Ravens Head Club, which rivals The 7 Deadly Sins Club that is owned by Miss Grossberg herself.
When asked if the accusation might be a case of corporate sabotage, Miss Grossberg declined to comment.

News: Traps in the Sewers

Photos were sent into the Daily Sins today depicting some of the terrifying objects that have come to light in the sewers of Sinners Rest City.
The photos, taken by Bay tattooist Tara Wittles and obtained by the paper depict bizarre cage entrapments and a device more suited to a medieval museum - a stretching rack.

Tara comments that the most terrifying thing about stumbling across these traps and machinery was that they seemed maintained somehow.
No police investigation appears to have been made into the manner or appearance of these public hazards. The paper feels obligated to advise citizens not to go exploring in the city's underground or sewers unaccompanied.

Other News : Blue Dawn Escapes Capture

Dead End - Friday 28th May 2009

Apprehended suspects of the 'Blue Dawn' terrorist organisation managed to escape police capture whilst being transported to a secure facility. A source for the Daily Sins revealed the two prisoners , Lynx Debruyere and Kara Nishi were detained for questioning but did not arrive on schedule.

The DEPD seem to be keeping this a hush up as no one was available to neither confirm or deny this particular jail break.

Lynx Debruyere is a person of key interest in the Laura Dreadlow Murder as Laura was reported to have been a frequent party guest at Lynx's wild parties, neighbours said.

News: Hair today, Gone tomorrow?

The once gloriously red locks of one Stubby McGinnis, local business owner, have been blemished by the attack of a woman upon both his person and his vanity. Mr. McGinnis, one of those men lucky enough to have all his hair even at the age he might be, was apparently the victim of an assault by Raynee Jewell, known to be an employee of Mr. Hawk Zsun, a local business owner himself, who has just recently owned a club within Sinner's Rest.

It seems that Ms Jewell, as well as her friend Ms. MarySue Devall, have some past grievance against Mr. McGinnis as the local rumor mill churns out.

At this time, no assault charges have been filed, but it seems, for the same of his health, sanity, and hair, Stubby has now opted to sue Mr Zsun for damages.

Oh, what a tangle we weave, when our combs do deceive!

Q's contemplations - Laura's journal:

I had a rather interesting meeting the other day with the reporter from the local paper known as the 'Daily Sin'. I think that Dita is actually the editor of the entire publication, and I have followed her stories with some interest. So far, she's actually managed to put out what seems to be facts without casting too much ugliness on what is already a bad situation with Laura's murders.

Dita mentioned about this possibly being related to other killings, or maybe it was that detective that did that. In any fashion, this could have been one more death in a string committed by the same person or group. I say group as I remember this cult being mentioned as well as Laura mentioning it. So, I have to put them into my list of suspects as well.

I need to find out more about Laura's boyfriend too. Isn't he likely to be high on the list of suspects? I'd think so. Dita and I talked about Laura's journal, and I remember. How could I forget?

Laura and I both kept them, and I know exactly where her's is hidden. I am going to retrieve her diary in the next couple of days.

Maybe it will shed some light on what happened, but if nothing else, at least I will get to feel her close again in some way. I really miss my best friend.

For the Rain, it Raineth Every Day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMM4oYOSOB4&feature=related

I have taken to sitting out in front of Zoe's cafe recently, even when it isn't open. I like the location. It gives shelter from both the wind and the rain - I still can't get over how much more changeable the weather has become since the earthquake. There's also a comforting nostalgia about the cafe itself with its retro decor, the transistor radio, the wonderful traditional food - and, of course, the wonderful traditional owner.

I was sitting outside Zoe's late one evening when a girl I vaguely recognised came along. She dipped under the shelter of the umbrella at my table to avoid one of those sudden rain showers and we got talking. It was Sapphire Emmons, who I hadn't seen since before the flood at Deadend. She said she's staying with her friend Lynx now, in a house which is very near mine.

There's a poster of Laura Dreadlow on the window of the cafe, and our conversation drifted around to that poor girl. Sapphire had moved in with Lynx at about the time Laura's body was found. I don't think the two had ever met, but it was clear she had already picked up quite a bit - and not just from the newspapers.

Sapphire told me that Lynx had thrown a housewarming party the week before she arrived (on April 9th, I think she said). Laura had been there. Naturally I became more interested when she said that. She then talked about another friend of Lynx's, a girl called Laz, who was also staying there. She said Laz wears a snake around her neck, which might help to explain why my cat has been behaving so oddly recently. And she also said that Laz had hit Laura at the party, causing Laura to lose a tooth.

I caught up with Sapphire again a few days later at Lynx's house - number seven - and was introduced to a baby-blue-haired Laz, complete with snake. There was certainly something disconcerting about her. I wasn't able to find out any more about Laura or the party, which was a little disappointing, but I'll try again when I get another chance.

I don't really expect this will help me get closer to my real goal of finding out if Laura and I are related, but the more I find out the more I'm becoming drawn towards her in ways I cannot explain. I have an uneasy feeling I may be left wishing I hadn't heard of Laura in the first place, which I sincerely hope won't happen. Whatever she may have been or done in her short life, she surely deserves much better than that.

===============================================

I should have seen something out of the corner of my eye, or heard the footsteps on the gravel, but I was so engrossed in my work for the therapist that I missed it all. My head was pulled sharply back by the hair and a wire wound around my neck. I was under no illusions of what would happen if I were to disregard the accompanying threat.

It all happened so quickly. I was marched into the empty cafe and forced down behind the counter. My arms were bound with clingfilm and the binding didn't stop until I was wrapped in the clear plastic from head to toe. The wire was removed but I wasn't breathing any easier, the film making me so hot and uncomfortable. I was only dimly aware of a male voice. It wasn't long before I passed out completely.

It was Zoe who found me, for which I was thankful. How long I lay there I honestly don't know. Even when the clingfilm came off it was quite a while before I was able to breathe easily.

I was beginning to wonder what the incident was all about, when I noticed something my assailant had left behind him. Jam. Lots of it. All over Zoe's fridge door. Zoe did mention the flavour, but I can't recall what it was or if that held any significance. It took me a few moments to realise that it wasn't just a random pattern, either. There was a message spelled out -

"Too many cooks can spoil the broth,
Too many looks will boil my wrath -
let the dead lie in peace"

I have no idea what it meant other than it seemed to be a warning, of sorts. Neither Zoe nor Dr Hobie (who I hadn't noticed entering the restaurant) knew either. Zoe's police background took over at this point as she carefully preserved what she could of the evidence. I was in no condition to take in much of what was going on, so after a strong black coffee I went home.

he laughs.

News : Ultor Investments Sinks Millions into Sinners Bay

Ultor Investments' CEO - Miss Shelbey Xue, has confirmed what has been previously rumored. In an exclusive interview, Miss Xue acknowledged that the company plans to invest in re-starting the prison in sinners bay that would see the facility to its full functioning capability.

Whilst exact figures were not discussed… Miss Xue also alluded that Ultor Investments had a wide range of interest in businesses within the vicinity - citing that Ultor was a multi-service industry.

Miss Xue was rather vague about these interests though 'Research' was discussed as one of the key directions of the company, as well as 'Event Security'.

Miss Xue herself hails from Cyan, but was tight lipped about her past simply stating that her reason for moving was that ".. it was getting a little rowdy there."

Ultor Investments is a relatively new company but is backed by Briden Co. Enterprise - a well established mass franchise whose company director is none other than Miss Xue's estranged Father.

Businesses seeking financial investment in the bay area now have an alternative to drawing loans from Sinners Bank and Trust. It looks like life in the bay area may just be looking up!

News : CLUB opens in Sinners Bay

Photo of Mr Dante Haustraun, CLUB spokes person and CEO

Consolidated Local Union of Businesses or CLUB ,
represented by Mr Dante Haustraun, was in Sinners Bay on Sunday evening to distribute information about the organisation.

The rather dashing Mr Haustraun, when asked about CLUB and it's activities said

"I'd like your readers to know that they aren't alone, that they don't have to be scared, and that there is hope for them and for this town. Let them know that I'm looking forward to getting to know each and every one of them, and that joining the CLUB is like joining a family; we take care of our own.
"

Mr Haustraun was of course referring to the recent migration out of Sinners Bay that has left some of the local businesses struggling for clientele in what was once a thriving tourist town… Some attribute this to the lack of police activity and ineptness in apprehending any suspects on the part of law enforcement in the murder of Laura Dreadlow. Others blame it on the wild life and rumoured hauntings.

Whatever the reason - it is clear that Sinners Bay is a town in crisis. Perhaps CLUB holds the rejuvenation the town needs to create a stable economy. Mr Haustraun truly believes that "…A strong union can affect change, but nothing in life comes for free. " as he spoke of the price it would cost local businesses on the margin, to buy into the idea of a union.

"..the reason these businesses haven't seen a customer in weeks is because the town is scared. If they join the CLUB, if they bolster our numbers, and they see the changes taking place, then the customers will return and the businesses will prosper…how can they afford NOT to join the CLUB?' "

In a tough economic year, businesses will want to see results and Mr Haustraun promises that he has hard evidence of similar businesses thriving in places where CLUB has rooted themselves. He further explains "…What happens when one business is burglarised? Nothing. The owner turns to the local police, and nothing is done about it. Now, what happens when all the local businesses turn to the local police and tell them to fix the problem or we'll find ourselves a new private police force? Then you'll see how quickly criminals are caught!"

The watch word here seems to be joint co-operation in putting pressure on the authorities in an organised fashion. Just how successful Mr Haustraun might be in convincing the locals in the bay area that this is the way forward , remains to be seen but it would seem the idea has merit.

More information about CLUB can be attained from the offices of CLUB in Sinners Bay that Mr Haustraun is currently setting up.

Feel the Deep Blue Enfolding You

After my conversation with Nancy Neiro, I was more determined to find out what her dead cousin may or may not have said about me. As I still had no clue who might have sent me the note, paying a visit to the Doctor looked like the only option. I wasn't totally convinced this was a wise course of action but, realistically, what else could I do?

I was trying to think of a way of approaching him when I found the answer staring back at me from the newspaper. Dr Hobie was looking for a secretary of 'mature appearance and disposition'. Hmm. I don't know shorthand but I can probably pass on the appearance criteria. The advert gave a box number, but I couldn't take the chance on that. I decided to go to see him directly, and the present seemed like as good a time as any to do it.

I was feeling decidedly nervous by the time I reached the office, and my initial contact with the therapist did nothing to calm me. The tallish, distinguished-looking gentleman was obviously expecting someone, which immediately put me on my guard. By the time we'd established that I wasn't the cleaner I began to feel a little easier.

The doctor mentioned very early on that he could recall absolutely nothing of the raid on his premises. This was disappointing but not wholly unexpected. He also asked me to sign a couple of papers, citing reasons of confidentiality. I didn't pay much attention to what I was signing, but as I wasn't there to look for gossip to spread or sell - I'm more concerned with making sure certain information doesn't get out - it didn't worry me unduly at the time.

He was more concerned on making sure all he could remember of the dead girl was committed to paper again, and as soon as possible, which suited my purposes very well. What did concern me was the method he had chosen to do this. He intended to use some kind of self-hypnosis, which he began the moment he settled himself into his chair, with me perched precariously on a flimsy-looking side table beside him.

Once he'd managed to hypnotise himself, he launched into what I soon understood to be his hidden memories of a conversation he'd had, presumably in that very office, with Laura Dreadlow herself. Electrified, I picked up my pencil and began to write down as much as I could. What follows is a fairly accurate copy of my notes, such as thay are, although I will allow my transcription to be not fully complete, and there may be a couple of occasions where I misheard the Doctor.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Dr. Jake Hobie pauses and then says "I am going to count backwards from three, and you will sink gently beneath the waves into the deep blue. When I reach one, you will be perfectly still, and you will be able to have a pleasant dream, of the first time that Laura Dreadlow came into your office" - Three - sinks slowly downwards - two - feel the deep blue enfolding you - One - you are now in your office with Laura Dreadlow"

Laura's voice: So Doc, want to know why I came to see you?

Dr. Jake Hobie: Your father and Mother wanted me to talk to you about your strange behaviour

Laura's voice (laughs): You don't know a thing, Doc. I made my father send me to you. I wanted to see if you were as crazy as the town says you are

Dr. Jake Hobie: Isn't that a sort of strange thing to do, Laura, making your father send you to see a therapist?

Laura's voice: I'm a kind of strange girl, Doc, are you man enough to handle me? I can bite, you know, and there's a few boys around town will testify to that. Well, no, they *won't testify, that's the beauty of having a mobile phone that takes pictures and records voices, they'll do exactly what I ask them to do. Except the real thing, (sad note of irritation), there's things that boys can't do for a girl, you know what I mean, Doc?

Dr. Jake Hobie: I can imagine all sorts of things, Laura, they probably won't let you drive their cars, for instance.

Laura's voice (laughs): Oh Doc, what makes you think I want to be in the *front* seat? I'm a back-seat girl, all the way. (laughs again) aren't you going to ask me about my mother? That's what all trick-cyclists say, isn't it? "we seem to have avoided talking about your mother"

Dr. Jake Hobie says "Your mother was very concerned about you when I spoke to her, she wanted me to, well, no, I'll not ask you that, it's my job to get you to ask the questions of yourself.

Laura's voice (laughing harder): She's not my mother, Doc. She's my father's wife. But that doesn't mean she's my mother, does it? Know what I mean?

Dr. Jake Hobie: Um, she seems to think she's your mother, Laura.

Laura's voice: She *pretends* to be my mother, Doc, but she can't be, she had a hysterectomy after a car-crash, three years before I was born. And my father was the driver. She never forgave him for that. He had turned his head to look at a woman in a short skirt bending over the engine of her broken-down car, and didn't see the truck pull out in front of them.

Dr. Jake Hobie: But that doesn't stop her from loving you as if she were your natural mother, Laura. Is it this which has made you so upset about things?

Laura's voice (laughs): I'm not upset, Doc, don't you get it? I'm fine, it's them that are upset, her and him. He, because she never lets a day go past without reminding him what a poor father he has been, her, because she's jealous of whoever it was he slept with to get me to give to her to try and make up for the wrong he had done.

(( That was when I snapped my pencil lead and had to rummage around in my bag for a replacement. I don't think I missed anything, and I'm fairly certain what I did manage to get down was accurate. ))

Laura's voice: Doc, why is it you types always sit behind the patient? If you sat at the foot of the couch, you could look up my skirt and see what I'm wearing underneath.

Dr. Jake Hobie: Laura, that's very improper, and I wouldn't dream of abusing this situation in such a way.

Laura's voice; Well, suppose I suddenly get an itch and have to scratch doc? See, there's one now. I'll just pull my skirt up a bit and see if I can rub it and make the itch go away.

(( I found myself scratching my own legs in sympathy with Laura and dropped my pencil. It's possible I didn't get everything here. ))

Dr. Jake Hobie: That's quite enough, Laura. I think we should stop at this point, and resume next week.

Dr. Jake Hobie begins to breathe harder and seems to become agitated, moving his head from side to side, and then speaks in a calmer-deeper voice, "I am going to count up th three, and you will rise up out of the deep blue, and let the waves carry you back to the beach, where you will awaken when I say three. One - two - three

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Dr Hobie appeared to break out of his trance quite easily. I offered to type up my notes and he readily agreed, although his reminder about the confidentiality agreement I had signed put a nagging doubt in my head, as though there was something significant I had missed about the whole thing. He then ushered me out rather abruptly, saying he needed to lie down. It was clear the headache he had from the blow he received during the robbery was still troubling him.

But somehow I had the feeling that lying down was the last thing on his mind. Whether there was something in the session that had triggered some other memory, I don't know, but he seemed both tired and agitated. I thought it better not to push my luck by hanging around. I knew I would be back inside that office again very soon, drawn by its intriguing occupant and the secrets it holds so close, yet also so tantalisingly accessible.

Nancy gets a text

I stretches a bit and get out my book as i hear my phone go off and reaches for it behind her. I smile, looking at the name on the screen and open up the text that was sent wondering if there any news.

Musing and mysteries about Laura:

From Q's journal about Laura -

Lately, I have been reading all sorts of stories in the news about these revelations in relation to Laura's murder, which range from mention of this cult to other -- I had some idea of her involvement with the drugs and rest, and I really did try to stop her with some of it, but ..

in the end, Laura became swept in a lot of things, and I don't know that she would even recognize herself at hearing these stories now. I am determined to actually find out myself in who was responsible for the death of my best friend, and I also want to speak to this editor of the paper. News is just that, the news, but I wonder how much she knows now as well.

I did get a mysterious note the other day that contained something about Laura, but I have no idea who left it. It just said one sentence:

Laura won't have have the laugh in the end, I will.

That was it, and I have to wonder. I haven't let the cops or anyone know about this yet. It was left at the record store in a box with a single white rose.

Letters to the Editor

By Concerned Citizen (identity of author is protected)

What dwells beneath the fair streets of Sinners Rest? Rats? Bats? Mutant cats? Perhaps all of the above, as well as something far more sinister.

Beneath a large apartment building, there is a hidden entrance to a sewer. It looks innocent enough, except for the cages scattered about on the landing. This area has a stench that sends the stomach turning away and the mind reeling, yet this girl ventured on, deep into the depths the sewer pipes under the streets.

Something terrible is lurking down here. Though I found no humans on my adventures through the twisting, turning pipes, there were signs of them all over, in the pile of ripped and dirty clothing on a landing, to a tiny boat docked in what appeared to be the harbor, and a large cage which could either accomodate a number of animals or humans.

Surely the police will want to investigate who has been down here and what they've been doing, especially after the murder of poor Laura Dreadlow. Could her abduction have anything to do with the hidden passages under the streets? Could an entire crime syndicate lurk just a few feet underground?

These tunnels could be a hub of illegal activity, of drug activity or even human trafficking. Why do the police not monitor these areas? Someone needs to answer for what is dwelling in the underbelly of the city and fast, before someone else ends up dead in the harbor.

Letters to the Editor

Submitted by Drake Lavender

This morning the prison phone in my office rang. However, from the beginning I got a strange feeling about the call. When I looked at the display screen rather than a phone number showing up, I only saw "UNKNOWN". Hesitantly, I answered the call where a masked voice said "The secret is here." Before I had time to ask a question, I heard the phone click then silence.

Immediately I had the SRPD trace all calls placed in the last hour, and the only one with *67 placed in front of it came from the office in the port.

Immediately I went to the port to try to catch whomever gave this tip to me for further questioning, but there wasn't a soul to be seen...anywhere.

After searching for "the secret" for over an hour, I stepped onto the docked boat and found handcuffs and a strange white mask. I can only assume that the mask was from a Hedoian. The clues are currently being analyzed by the SRPD. Further details will be released as confirmed.

News : Dead girl Laura involved in local cult.

Laura's murderer may have been amongst fellow cultists.

The Daily Sins has now learned that Laura Dreadlow had been involved with the religious order " Kingdom of Hedoia" and was " … very into it " according to local Hedoian organiser - Arwyn Quandry.

It was Miss Quandry who had recruited Laura into joining the Kingdom of Hedoia during one of the orders' recruitment drives; though when asked - denies having had any sexual relations with Laura herself. Miss Quandry goes on record as saying "… We believe that you should do what makes you happy and if a same-sex relationship does that , do it"

Miss Quandry had joined what she refers to as ".. A new religious order" as she felt repressed in her home town. Joining Hedoia had "…got me out of a rut and into something I loved and could have fun with"

However the fun seems to be over for poor Laura Dreadlow, whose badly abused body had been wrapped up in plastic and dumped in the port waters of Sinners Rest City on the 17th of April. The port authority was not available for comment at the time.

There is no doubt now that the religious practices of the Kingdom of Hedoia may have had some bearing in this case and that their activities will be of police interest.

Re-created image of possible religious acts as practiced by the Kingdom of Hedoia followers based on researched material

Some information about the Kingdom of Hedoia.
- The organization is known as The Great Kingdom of Hedoia.
- The Leader is called the Joker. He is considered the perfection of Flesh Form (the human body on Earth).
- After a Hedoian dies, they believe they will enter the Great Kingdom and fully enjoy themselves without fear.
- They believe in the Spirit of Hedos and often say goodbye to others by saying "May the Spirit bless you" or "May you be blessed with the Spirit's Joy".
- All members wear masks on official business such as recruiting or rallying. Others wear them off of business as well.
- The group is spreading slowly throughout major US, South American, and European cities.
- Illegal activity is not condoned by the group, though it is known to happen.
- Their biggest activity is recruitment.
- All of the Joker's decrees are optional to follow, but members generally listen.

Early Morning Coffee with Nancy Neiro

I read the newspaper report about the burglary at the therapists's practice, but I didn't connect it to the note I received until later. If nothing else, this has taught me that I need to be a lot sharper. I'm now thinking that the note probably came from a third party rather than from the therapist himself. Did this person know what to look for, or was the note to me just an opportunity taken after a chance find? I don't know for sure if there is a connection but it does at least give me something to go on, and now I have a name - Dr Jake Hobie.

Early the next morning I went to the Dogs Bollocks for a coffee. The coffee isn't great there but I like the feel of the place (when the owner isn't around) and the location, so close to the sea. It helps me to wake me up.

There was only one other patron in there at that time, Nancy, the cousin of poor Laura. I did want to speak to her but I hadn't planned on looking for her yet. She had far too many other things on her mind, after all.

I found her to be still edgy, which was no surprise, but on the whole she seems to be bearing up quite well. She's managed to find out a little more about her cousin's lifestyle, including some suggestions which are likely to raise a few eyebrows.

She also mentioned that the dead girl had been seeing Dr Hobie, which of course made me sit up and take notice. It seems he works out of a room over the Daily Sins newspaper office. I'll have to take a look. I could ask Dita what she knows about it, but I'll need to be careful what I say to her. She's sure to have a few questions of her own.

Anyway, back to Nancy. She said her mother amd Laura's are sisters, and that both she and Laura were only children. My heart went out to her when she said that. I did ask if she knew anything about Laura's father, but she said she knew very little. I can see I'm not going to have an easy time finding out more about that line.

We chatted a bit more and it seems that we have a few other mutual acquaintances in this and nearby towns, so it's likely we'll be seeing more of each other while she's around. She's a bright girl, but vulnerable, and I have an uneasy feeling she's going to have a lot more pain to go through before she finds any peace.

Later on I did get to speak to Dr Balut at the hospital. She didn't know Dr Hobie but offered to make enquiries. She'd read the newspaper report too, of course, and I expect she has her own reasons for wanting to find out more about him. On my way back I stopped off at his place but the door leading upstairs was locked and there was no reply when I rang the bell. The newspaper office was empty too so I shall have to try another day.

Letter to the Editor

A single page of black cardstock bearing the following message has been slipped under the door of the editor's office, on the evening of Sunday, May 2nd, in a brown manilla envelope. It is composed of individual letters and punctuation marks clipped from newsprint and ads, all in precise square and rectangular shapes of various sizes. It is possible that much of the text was cut from one or multiple issues of The Daily Sinner itself. In contrast to the obvious meticulous care that has been taken to make every edge straight and every angle perfect, the letters are not placed in straight lines, and they often overlap. There is, however, a clear, straight left margin with nothing in it. The final line, which might be intended as the author's signature, is the most crowded line of all, and nearly runs off the right edge of the page.

Well now, here is your window.

It's open now, I think you can handle it, I've watched you and think you're capable of understanding.

Laura. Little Laura...what was her last name? Precious? Adorable. Little Laura Five-dollar Handjob.
She was shit the first time. I let it slide, cause you know, you have to learn to function differently.
It takes time, Lord, I should know. Lord, why didn't you save her? She asked so many times.
Well, you didn't show, so I saved her.Saved her from herself, she was so lost. Body couldn't show her
the way out, so I did. Showed her the way out. and in. and out. and in. I need you to know, so that you
know she's happy now. Fucking her way through heaven.

See, I save people. I am people. I could be you, Icould be her, I was her. I was her. I was her. I was her.
She was me. I'm everyone, eventually.

I'll even tell you where to find me. Look where people are free. Look where people are free to give themselves.
Laura did.

Mysterious helper sending clues

Sometimes being acting Chief of Police is not a good thing. Or maybe that's all the time.

I was sleeping when the phone rang. Sleep is something I never get enough of, and the job steals enough of this precious commodity from me. I picked up the phone and answered, "Wright here."

The voice on the other end belonged to Sergeant Boddy -- stout, fifty-something, approaching retirement age. The stereotypical doughnut munching cop. Anyway, turns out that while he stepped away from the reception desk, someone snuck in and dropped off an envelope. The envelope wasn't signed, nor were the contents, but contained a message, fifteen words spelled out in letters torn from magazines or newspapers: "Ask her therapist who she slept with. or ask him who she *didn't* sleep with".

Sgt. Boddy said he though it could have something to do with the homecoming queen's death. I concurred, so I threw on some clothes, took my Glock with me and walked over to the station. If only the city would give us more money, we could get our broken camera's replaced, and we'd know who dropped this off. I took a look at the message, took a photograph, then walked it down to the lab, left a message for them to check the letter and envelope for prints and hair-and-fibers. Then I sent an e-mail to the agent from the FBI. Later, called him up and passed on the info.

Agent Dresden questions Q.:

(OOC preamble - On a visit to Qadriyya's store, Q's Quirks, in Sinner's Bay, Agent Dresden (Vittorio Abruzzo) begins to question Q about Laura's death and what she might know.)

Vittorio Abruzzo smiles, as he closes the door, glancing around the establishment, his pale blue eyes alert and flickering over details as his mind registers them.

Qadriyya Halostar turns as someone enters the store, and she recognizes the man from the other night at the club in Sinner's Rest. "Ah, you're the .. agent or something, right?" She studies him briefly.

Vince Dresden chuckles softly,.. a mild amount of irritation wavering through his voice.. "My word sure does travel fast in these parts! Yes, Ma'am.. that's me.. Agent Vince Dresden.. But please, feel free to call me Vince."

Qadriyya Halostar eyes him. "I saw you at the club the other day, and I briefly overheard you talking to a blond lady, not much, but I got an idea. It wasn't through mind reading or something, I assure you, or word traveling anywhere.." She chuckles. "Well, Mr. Dresden, to what reason do I owe this visit?"

Vince Dresden smiles, and glances around for seating... seeing none, he simply leans his back against the counter.. "I see your love for music extends past your DJ'ing. Sex Pistols, old Billy Idol.. you seem to have some good taste."

Qadriyya Halostar glances around the small store and nods at him. "Yes, I do like quite a bit of music, and those are some of the genres I enjoy. I sell music here in record form and other formats besides vinyl."

Vince Dresden grins wider, and settles an elbow onto the counter making himself more comfortable.. "I'm not sure I can consciously agree with Adam Ant or the Human League, however. But, let me cut to the chase as to why I'm here to speak with you..."

Qadriyya Halostar shrugs. "Merely a display. I carry other stuff as well, so what can I do for you, Mr. Dresden?"

Vince Dresden: "I would first like to offer my condolences, I know how it feels to lose someone close to you in such a horrible way."
Vince Dresden loses his smile, his lips down turning mildly in empathy, pale blue eyes clouding mildly as he imagines his own loss for a moment, before his head shakes softly.. and their keen gaze settle back on her.

Qadriyya Halostar sighs as he mentions Laura's demise and the body being -- "Yes, I heard, and I've identified.." She nods briefly. "Thank you. It is horrible."

Vince Dresden offers a small, encouraging smile.. "I want you to know, I am going to do everything in my power to find the killer, and bring them to justice... which is one of the things that brings me here today... Anything that you may know, could prove very helpful.."

Qadriyya Halostar studies him and smiles. "I'm glad to hear that, Mr. Dresden. Ah, yes, I've had one policeman come by with some questions.. "

Vince Dresden: "Well, not to impugn the reputation of the local police, I'd really rather deal with everyone myself.. they seem a bit.....overwhelmed.. by this all. And of course, I have experience on the case... We believe this killer has struck before you see?"

Qadriyya Halostar shrugs. "Well, I am happy to try and help either way as it is needed." At his words, she nods again. "I see. Well, I would like to find out whoever did this to Laura and see them end up behind bars where they belong."

Vince Dresden: All accounts have you as Laura's dearest friend.. I can certainly see why, even in a city full of lovely women, you two most definitely stand out. Birds of a feather, and the like. I, also was paying rather good attention the other night, and it could actually prove of interest, were you and Laura friends......or lovers?

Qadriyya Halostar chuckles. "Yes, she is my best friend, and I've known her for a while." She nods. "We always kept in touch, even going and coming back." She stares at him. "Lovers?" Her voice holds some tone of surprise.

Vince Dresden: Well miss, I would be more than happy to have a woman as lovely as yourself give me the looks you were shooting your lady friend at the 7 sins.... So, I am assuming you are at the least interested in women.... again, this is in no way a judgment, but if I'm looking for a man, when I should be looking for a woman.... you understand."

Qadriyya Halostar snorts lightly. "I don't recall giving anyone looks, Mr. Dresden, and no, I wasn't Laura's lover or something. Just good friends."

Vince Dresden: "The condition of the body, as well as the means used to kill her, both point to a crime of passion.. As you were such good friends perhaps you could illuminate me on her very swift growing interest in illicit drugs?"

Qadriyya Halostar shrugs. "I suspected that she was using, and I could see the signs, though I don't actually take part in such myself. It wasn't too long as I think that she has been into such.. stuff."

Vince Dresden: No. Me either. I don't suppose you knwo of any new friends she may have made? Ones that are active in such drug use? Possibly someone who could have supplied her? Did she have a boyfriend?

Qadriyya Halostar rubs a hand over her cheek. "I'm sure I could probably give it some thought.. this is all rather sudden, Mr. Dresden, and hard to take in. Could we pick up this questioning soon? I'd like to some time to adjust."

Vince Dresden smiles softly and nods his head solemnly.. "Well, just remember,t he longer we take, the more of a head start our murderer gets... " He pulls out his wallet ahnding over a business card.

Vince Dresden: Any time of night, if you think of anything at all, do not be at all worried over calling me.. that's my personal number."

Qadriyya Halostar nods. "I won't take long, Mr. Dresden, and agreed." She reaches out to take his card. "I will, and call you with anything that I have."

Vince Dresden: good... good. I look forward to hearing from you miss Q, and Im sure I will be seeing you at your shows.. I admire you work.
Vince Dresden: Good evening for now, Miss..

Qadriyya Halostar smiles. "Ah, thank you, glad you enjoy it. I sing sometimes at the Smuggler's Inn in Sinner's Rest as well. I'll be in contact in the next couple of days."

News : Burglary reveals dead girl had mental problems.

A burglary that had recently taken place indicates that dead girl, Laura Dreadlow, had been seeing a therapist. Sources say that Dr Jake Hobie, the therapist in question, had been struck on the head by a paperweight and left unconscious, as his office was ransacked for notebooks and tapes. Amongst the property stolen from his office were two years worth of recorded therapy sessions between Dr Hobie and Laura.
Dr Hobie's part time secretary was also a victim in this crime though she eventually managed to find help for her boss by dialing 911 despite her struggles in bondage.

The theft comes as a blow as these therapy sessions may well have been able to shed some light and provide possible new leads for the ongoing investigation into the murder of Laura Dreadlow.

Both Agent Dresden and Dr. Hobie were unavailable for comment during time of print.

Crime prevention advice as provided by the experts :

Preventing crime pays!
Businesses are more at risk of crime than private households. Reducing the risk of crime will help protect your profits and make sure that the people who work with you are safe.

Everyone needs to play a part in tackling crime effectively - the police and other public services, businesses and residents.

If you’ve already been a victim of crime, taking action to prevent further incidents is particularly important.
Whatever you decide:
● do a few things - don’t rely on one solution
● involve everyone who works in your store and use their experience
● remember partnership pays! You’ll be able to do more by working with others.

Facts?: Police report as leaked to the press

OFFICIAL POLICE REPORT
DETAILING: Assault of Detective Kelsey Edelmann, April 24, 2010
NOT TO BE RELEASED TO PUBLIC BY ORDER OF: Detective Kelsey Edelmann
RATED CONFIDENTIAL BY ORDER OF: Detective Kelsey Edelmann

At approximately 11 AM SLT, Detective Edelmann noted a woman in a business-type skirt suit motioning towards her by Zoe's Cafe.

After being approached by Detective Edelmann the woman proceeded to overpower the detective, forcing her to the ground where she was bound, gagged, and blindfolded. She was forced to walk to the vacant lot next to Zoe's where she had her trousers forcibly removed, and was hogtied with additional rope. Her hosiery was slid down and her service revolver was inserted into her vagina while her pepper spray canister was forced into her anus. Both were secured with additional rope before red lipstick was used to write "Stay out of town" and "FBI" on her buttocks. Nylon fishing wire was then bound to the trigger of Detective Edelmann's revolver, and then run around the vicinity with sufficient tension so that a careless rescuer could trip the wire and unintentionally pull the trigger of the revolver. Finally, Detective Edelmann's hosiery was then pulled back up, further ensuring that Detective Edelmann would not be able to expel these devices.

Due to the writing on her buttocks as well as the well dressed nature of her assailant, Detective Edelmann is concerned that inter-agency rivalry between the SRPD and FBI, taken too far, could be the cause of her assault. In addtion to the writing on her buttocks, the assailant stated to Detective Edelmann that "You can deliver my message dead or alive" and "You be a good messenger and make sure that the people at the top get to hear of it," while also taking efforts to further humiliate Detective Edelmann and show disrespect for the SRPD. Detective Edelmann's police badge was affixed to her notebook, and placed under her chin, where they became soaked with saliva due to the drooling caused by the ballgag lodged in the detective's mouth.

Detective Edelmann was eventually freed without further incident at approximately 1 PM SLT by Ms. Mayumi Inaka, a local citizen in good standing. Ms. Inaka has assured Detective Edelmann that she will refrain from informing the news media about what she saw or discussing the matter on the internet as per the wishes of Detective Edelmann.

Any death diminishes me, because I am involved....

"She told him everything, her therapist, that little dead girl. She couldn't stop talking. She told him about all the people she knew secrets about. She told him about *you*. Who will *he* tell her secrets to? Who is going to know all about you?"

I don't think I knew the girl. I mean, I knew who she was, of course, and it's even possible I may have spoken to her once or twice, but if I did I don't recall. I'm sure I never knew her name, I would have remembered it if I did. It's the same as mine.

Although we share the same uncommon surname, we're not related. At least, I don't think we are. The line from my grandfather's first marriage has never been fully explored, and there was another (a black sheep, I was always told) who was part of the Welsh exodus to Patagonia a couple of generations earlier. My grandmother was never very forthcoming on our ancestry and I don't think it's too fanciful to say that her uneasiness when the subject came up betrayed a hint of long-suppressed scandal.

The sudden death of a young person always shocks and scares. Underneath all the anger and the grief, when it's clear the agent of death is another human hand there's always a nagging sense of guilt and failure among those still around. Within such a small community the death of anyone in such circumstances diminishes us all in the fullest sense. I didn't know her and I hope I don't know the person or persons associated with her death, but we lived in the same place, we must have used the same stores and other facilities, and I'm sure we knew many of the same people. I don't mind admitting it's shaken me. I'm frightened, but I'm not sure what of.

And now, after her death, we have moved closer still. An anonymous note was passed under my door. I have no idea who by even though I was at home when it happened. It had no name or address and could possibly have been delivered to the wrong address, but somehow I know that isn't the case. I know it was for me.

I have no idea who wrote it. It contains references to a therapist and is neatly punctuated, which suggests an educated hand. The only therapist I can think of in town is Dr. Balut, who is most definitely not a *he*. As it's the only real clue I have, I may have to start by making a few discreet enquiries at the hospital.

Discretion will have to be my watchword. The reference to secrets is a clear statement of intent from the writer, the threat of revelation all too clear. But what secrets? What could that poor girl possibly have known about me, and -(with a chill of sudden realisation at the thought)- did whatever she know about me have anything to do with her death? Was the writer of the note more than just her therapist in this story, and what does he now want from me?

I know I won't be able to do this alone, but who can I turn to? Who can I trust, knowing that one small slip of judgement could be enough to jeopardise my own position in this town and even put my life, and those of others, in danger? The local newspaper editor, Dita, is keen, maybe too much so. I'm not sure I want her digging into my past, and there's something about her that makes me feel.... er, well, it's probably best not to go into that right now.

There are one or two other names that spring to mind, but can I really justify dragging them into this, possibly even putting their lives at risk too? There is one I'm sure I can trust, but with others I may have to be more circumspect about how much I divulge. I don't like to think of myself as using people, but this may really be a case of the less they know, the better all round.

One thing is clear. I shall have to find out more before I become trapped in - what?
